Research on ionic liquids is constantly providing information on their new and more advanced applications. Undoubtedly, the use of latent curing agents for epoxy resins is one of the most interesting applications of this group of compounds In this work, a detailed description of the synthesis and physicochem. studies of DABCO-based (1,4-diazabicylo[2.2.2]octane) ionic liquids is presented. Their most valuable feature is that they can be latent curing agents for polymerization of epoxy resins, which in turn can be used, when combined with fibers, as composites with special, new properties. The research includes detailed discussion of synthesis of new DABCO-ILs, focusing on obtaining pure compounds and expanding current knowledge on the subject. Thermal (DSC) and chromatog. (IC) properties have been discussed for all presented salts. Furthermore, ionic liquids with dicyanamide and triflate anion have demonstrated the ability to initiate polymerization of epoxy resins. Subsequently, all mixtures were cured into cubical shape and were subjected to the Shore hardness test (SHT). The main advantages of the obtained ILs are (i) the ability to store ionic liquids/epoxy resin mixture for prolonged periods of time without deterioration of curing properties and (ii) a significantly lower quantity of ionic liquids used in the process of curing epoxy resins.

Zhan, Yi-Zhou;Xiao, Nan;Shu, Wei research published 《 Ni-catalyzed regio- and stereo-defined intermolecular cross-electrophile dialkylation of alkynes without directing group》, the research content is summarized as follows. The nickel-catalyzed intermol. cross-dialkylation of alkynes devoid of directing or activating groups afforded multiple aliphatic substituted alkenes in a syn-selective fashion at room temp was reported. The combination of two-electron oxidative cyclometallation and single-electron cross-electrophile coupling of nickel enabled the syn-cross-dialkylation of alkynes at room temperature This reductive protocol enabled the sequential installation of two different alkyl substituents onto alkynes in a regio- and stereo-selective manner, circumvented the tedious preformation of sensitive organometallic reagents. The synthetic utility of this protocol was demonstrated by efficient synthesis of multi-substituted unfunctionalized alkenes and diverse transformations of the product.

N. research published 《 λ-shaped to T-shaped azo diester mesogens having methyl (-CH3)/methoxy(-OCH3) terminal substituents with trisubstituted benzene》, the research content is summarized as follows. A two homologous series of λ-shape to T-shape mesogenic azo diesters were synthesized and their thermotropic properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and a hot-stage polarizing optical microscope. The difference between these two series was in the structure of terminal substituents Me (-CH3) for series I and methoxy (-OCH3) for series II at one terminus. Structure variation from λ-shape to T-shape from lower members to higher members was discussed. In the series I, methoxy to n-pentyloxy derivatives were non-mesogenic. The n-hexyloxy derivative exhibited only monotropic nematic mesophase, n-heptyloxy to n-dodecyloxy derivatives exhibited monotropic smectic C mesophase and n-tetradecyloxy derivative exhibited enantiotropic SmA mesophase, whereas n-hexadecyloxy derivatives exhibited monotropic Smectic A mesophase. In series II, methoxy to n-hexyloxy derivatives were non-mesogenic, n-heptyloxy and n-octyloxy derivatives exhibited monotropic smectic C mesophase. Smectic A mesophase commences from the n-decyloxy derivative as a monotropic and persists up to the last member synthesized. The mesomorphic properties of the present series were compared with each other and with the structurally related mesogenic homologous series to evaluate the effect of Me (-CH3)/methoxy (-OCH3) substituents as well as variation in the shape of the mol. by varying the alkoxy chain length of the bulky lateral substituent on mesomorphism.

Yang, Liu-qing;Yu, Shao-peng;Yang, Yan-tao;Zhao, Yi-shuang;Wang, Fei-yun;Chen, Yao;Li, Qing-hua;Tian, Ping;Zhu, Yu-ying;Zhang, Jian-ge;Lin, Guo-qiang research published 《 Muscone derivative ZM-32 inhibits breast tumor angiogenesis by suppressing HuR-mediated VEGF and MMP9 expression》, the research content is summarized as follows. Inhibition of tumor angiogenesis is a highly effective strategy for cancer treatment. Human antigen R (HuR), an RNA-binding protein, is overexpressed in many cancers and regulates the mRNAs of multiple angiogenic factors by binding to the adenylate-uridylate-rich element in their 3&′ untranslated region. HuR protein has been demonstrated to be an important regulatory factor in macrophage-mediated angiogenesis, a process in which macrophages are critical for tumor progression. Muscone is a synthetic equivalent of musk, and recent studies have shown that it has a regulatory effect on angiogenesis. In this study, we synthesized five series of muscone derivatives and discovered that compound ZM-32 was effective in preventing HuR RRM1/2-Vegf-a mRNA complex formation. ZM-32 bound to HuR RRM1/2 protein with a KD value of 521.7 nmol/L. Furthermore, ZM-32 inhibited endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and tubule formation, and suppressed the VEGF/VEGFR2/ERK1/2 signaling axis mediated by macrophages in vitro. We also demonstrated that ZM-32 effectively prevented the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells and inhibited the growth and angiogenesis of MDA-MB-231 xenograft tumors without any obvious toxicity in vivo. Mechanistically, exposure to ZM-32 influenced the mRNA stability of Vegf-a and Mmp9 in a HuR-dependent manner in both macrophages and MDA-MB-231 cells. Thus, in this study we identified a new muscone derivative, ZM-32, with anti-angiogenesis effects mediated via targeting HuR in breast cancer, that may become a potentially valuable lead compound for anti-cancer angiogenesis.

These nitrodiene-containing lipid electrophiles contain a strongly electron-withdrawing pair of conjugated double bonds amenable to nucleophilic attack in biol. milieu, which affords them pluripotent signaling capabilities. We report synthetic methods to obtain useful quantities of three main biol. nitrated fatty acids (9- and 12-nitro-conjugated linoleic acids and 9-nitro-conjugated linolenic acid) in six or seven steps from com. available starting materials for biol. evaluation of these naturally occurring biomols.

Wilhelmsen, Christopher A.;Zhang, Xuntong;Myhill, Jesse A.;Morken, James P. research published 《 Enantioselective Synthesis of Tertiary β-Boryl Amides by Conjunctive Cross-Coupling of Alkenyl Boronates and Carbamoyl Chlorides》, the research content is summarized as follows. Synthesis of versatile β tert-boryl amides is accomplished by conjunctive cross-coupling of α-substituted alkenyl boron “ate” complexes and carbamoyl chloride electrophiles. This reaction can be accomplished in an enantioselective fashion using a palladium catalyst in combination with MandyPhos. The addition of water results in enhanced chemoselectivity for the conjunctive coupling product relative to the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling product. Transformations of the reaction products were examined as well as application to the synthesis of (+)-adalinine.
