The mixture was stirred for 2 h. during which time the temperature was allowed to rise to ambient. The solution was washed with 100 ml of water, 250 ml of concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid, and 100 ml of water, drived (MgSO4) and evaporated to give 292 g of an oil. This material contained 1,3-bis(2,2-dibromoethyl)-adamantane and polyvinyl bromide, and was used without further purification.
