Products of the thermolysis of R3N+(CH2)nOH.OH (I; R = Me, Et, Pr; n = 4-8) were identified. Major products were HO(CH2)n-2CH:CH2 and HO(CH2)nR2. Intramol. cyclization was only important for I (R = Me, n = 4; R = Pr, n = 5) giving 91.5% THF and 21.7% tetrahydropyran, resp.
