The ROP of lactide in the presence of the in -situ prepared imidazolium-based carbene, from readily prepared imidazolium salts or a com. available starting material, showed markedly different behavior. Poly(L-lactide) with relatively high mol. weight and polydispersity 1.4 was obtained with high yield ≥95% using the ionic liquid of imidazolium and thiazolium catalysts.
