To a vigorously stirred solution of 3-bromo-2-methylaniline (5.0 g, 26.9 mmol) in a 1 :1 mixture of dichloromethane (67.2 mL) and sodium bicarbonate (80.6 mL, 1 .15 M) was added dropwise a solution of triphosgene (2.79 g, 9.41 mmol, 0.35 equiv) in (15 mL) at 0C.
